GARDNER FACES LAY-OFF
Last Updated: 09 February 2010 @ 16:09
St Helens will be without Ade Gardner 'for six weeks', after the winger suffered multiple rib cartilage damage during Saturday's defeat by Hull.
The game was their first of the new season and St Helens coach Mick Potter said: "It's normally two to three weeks if there's damage to a single rib.
"But in Ade's case there's three or four damaged so it's not good for him and the doctor is saying optimistically it could be six weeks.
"This all depends on the pain Ade is feeling and he certainly won't be able to do much training with us for at least three or four weeks."
However, the loss of the 26-year-old right winger has been offset by the availability of Kiwi Francis Meli.
Meli missed the Hull game after being granted compassionate leave by the club but Potter confirmed he will return for this weekend's trip to Bradford Bulls.
